This week I put my light box project on hold and started to make some Christmas gifts for my parents. I spent Monday researching ideas and eventually I settled on a custom guitar stand for my dad because he needed one. I went through a couple of designs on Monday and Tuesday. One used a bridge to connect the two stand parts that the guitar would sit on (as seen to the left) and the other used the stands and connected them directly as seen below.

I ultimately decided on using the first design that used the bridge connection because I thought that it would provide the most support compared to the other designs. I then laser-cut a cardboard version of the stand to make sure that it would fit the guitars. It seems like it will be very sturdy, and it looks like it will be able to fit the guitars. Next, I would like to cut out a final design in wood and try to find rubber strips to put on the parts where the guitar will sit so that the stand will not scratch it.
