Week 30
This week I started wrapping up things on the framed map project. At the start of the week I got the idea to make feet for the frame because it wouldn't be able to stand on its own. I spent the week going through a few designs and making sure that the measurements would work. I started by trying to make a triangular design but realized there would be no space for the screw. I then moved onto a longer design that kept space for the screw and I thought would also be better for

Week 29
This week I made some changes to the map project. Last week I finished up the design of the map and got it cut out in cardboard. Once I had it cut out at the end of the week I realized that the frame was very thin and did not feel like it would be sturdy. This week I started by working on making the frame wider. I did this in Inkscape where I imported the map design into the frame document and widened the frame to fit the map well and be more sturdy. Old frame sizes New frame

Week 28
This week I kept working on the framed map project. last week I cut out the map itself in cardboard. I noticed a few changes to the design that I wanted to make, some parts of the map were too close together which caused difficulties laser cutting. this week i made the changes I needed to make to the map at the start of the week. I spaced certain islands on the map further apart and also removed the coordinates because they were too close to the name. I was able to lasercut t

Week 27
This week I kept working on designs for my framed map project. I finished up the design of the map itself at the start of the week. After making sure everything was all set I lasercut the map in cardboard. Once I finished that I realized that I needed to change some things. Some of the parts were too close together. In the middle of the map there is a river that has a lot of islands in it. On the lasercut it seems like the islands clutter it too much and make it hard to cut s

Week 26
This week I was able to wrap up the CD holder project and move on to start thinking of new project ideas. I lasercut the first part to the CD holder at the end of last week. This week I planned on cutting out two more. I cut out the first piece and realized that I didn't actually need the third piece. my initial intention for the third piece was to make the slots of the holder deeper so that the CDs would stand up and not fall over. I realized that I could get this same effec

Senior Week 25
This week I kept working on my CD holder project. At the start of the week I tried to export my files from fusion and import them into Inkscape. I was confused at first because Inkscape would not let me import my files. After looking online I found that Inkscape does not like when you try to import files with splines. After discovering this I decided that I would just remake my design using the Inkscape tools. I decided to measure my CD cases to double check my measurements a

Senior Week 24
This week I continued working on the CD organizer project and started wrapping things up. I started the week by finishing some new designs that I started at the end of last week. Unfortunately there were some issues importing those as DXFs into Inkscape which I think had something to do with the splines after looking it up. After running into these issues I decided to go back to using one of my original designs that was square and did not use the splines. this design imported

Senior Week 23
This week was very short because we had two snow days at the start of the week but I was still able to get some work done. At the end of last week I had a few designs for my CD holder project. This week I put some finishing touches on the main one and cut out a test in cardboard. The slots look good and look like they will fit the CDs but I didn't like how boring the design was. On Thursday after I lasercut the test in cardboard I starting brainstorming ways to make it more i
