This week I kept working on the framed map project. last week I cut out the map itself in cardboard. I noticed a few changes to the design that I wanted to make, some parts of the map were too close together which caused difficulties laser cutting. this week i made the changes I needed to make to the map at the start of the week. I spaced certain islands on the map further apart and also removed the coordinates because they were too close to the name. I was able to lasercut the map on Thursday in cardboard and it came out great. The changes I made definitely made it look cleaner and easier to cut.

Once I finished that I started working on getting the frame cut out in cardboard. I had some issues where the design would not export from fusion as a DXF file so I ended up remaking the design in Inkscape using the map that I had already designed in Inkscape as a guide for the size. I was able to get all of the parts cut out in cardboard and put together. I am happy with the design and size. It all fits together well and the map fits perfectly inside. The design uses a frame in the front and the second layer is a layer of clear acrylic to keep the map inside. After the acrylic is the map which is help in by the acrylic and another frame the same as the front going around it and a back piece to keep everything in.
