Week 26

This week I was able to wrap up the CD holder project and move on to start thinking of new project ideas. I lasercut the first part to the CD holder at the end of last week. This week I planned on cutting out two more. I cut out the first piece and realized that I didn't actually need the third piece. my initial intention for the third piece was to make the slots of the holder deeper so that the CDs would stand up and not fall over. I realized that I could get this same effect by putting a standoff in between the two layers I already had and did not need to waste material on a third. In the end I am happy with how the project came out.

Once I finished up the CD holder I got to looking for new projects. I found a good idea to make a framed map of a city where the map was lasercut out. I thought it would be a good idea for my grandparents because their anniversary is coming up and they have a house in Gloucester so I would cut the map of Gloucester and put it in the frame. I started looking for ways to do this on Thursday and was looking around for ways to get a map of Gloucester into either Inkscape or fusion.
