Week 18

This week, I continued working on my new frame project. I came up with this idea at the end of last week and made a few designs. This week, I made another design that I like the most and will be using. I essentially used the old design and rounded the edges as well as the interior of the outermost layer. I spent the first part of the week looking at other similar designs and taking inspiration and incorporating some ideas into my design. I decided to add an acrylic layer in the middle as a way of protecting the print that I will be framing while still being able to see and display it.

I spent the second half of the week looking at different ways of hanging the frame. I did not like any of the designs that I came up with and thought that they made the frame look odd or too bulky including the one shown below to the right. Eventually Mr. L suggested using a metal wire in the back. I liked this idea and changed my design to be able to implement this. I added an extra layer on the back that is the same outline design as the front. I also added one hole on each side so that I can pass the wire across and hang it. I think that this looks much better than the original design that you can see to the right below. I also think that this is going to allow the frame to be much easier to hang and look better when it is hung up.
