Week 24

This week I continued working on my wheel stand project. After making a few small changes, I finished the design. I extended found how far in the clamps of the wheel go onto the table and made the pieces of PVC that go under the flat part smaller, to allow the wheel to clamp. After I finished the model, I started to research the parts that I was going to need to make it. I measured the model to figure out how much straight PVC I will need which is around 7.5 ft. I then counted how many of each different type of PVC I would need such as the amount of curved, connectors and t-shaped sections.

After I figured out the amount of materials I was going to need, I went on to look for the measurements of the clamps on my wheel. I wanted to figure out how far apart they were because I am going to need to add small extensions to the wood in those areas because the clamps only close to be 1.75 cm or 1.3 in at their smallest. This would not work for my design because I was planning on laser cutting the flat part that the wheel is going to clamp to. After finding this out, I plan on adding the extensions to the areas that the clamps are or routing a thicker piece of wood to use as the base. Unfortunately, I was not able to find the measurements online so I am going to measure it myself as soon as I can.
