This week I started working on a new project. I finished up my model car hanger project at the end of last week and brought that home. At the start of this week, I started looking for new projects. I started thinking of things I needed at home and thought of a way to organize some guitar effects pedals.
I had a general idea of how I wanted to do this. I knew that I wanted it to be at a slight angle and about a foot long. I started the first design by making three triangles that two horizontal slabs could rest on, which the pedals would sit atop. I finished the design but realized that the triangles seemed like they would be too flimsy due to them being hollow. I also did not know how I was going to connect the horizontal parts to the triangle supports.

I then moved onto the second design. Before making it, I made a few different sketches of ideas on how I would connect the vertical and horizontal supports in my notebook. I then started by making the triangles again, but this time I made indents in them that the horizontal parts would be able to slip into. I also filled in the triangles because before they were hollow in the first design which I thought would make them too weak. This design still felt a little off to me. The front of the triangles felt too long as well as the back so I moved onto a new design.

Before starting my final design, I made a life sized sketch of the top of the pedalboard as well as the pedals that will be going on it. I did this to make sure that the pedals would be able to fit on the board and how much space I would have left. I also did this to figure out how I would organize the wires which I knew would get messy if i did not organize them correctly. With this third design, I took the parts of the first two that I liked, and changed the parts I did not. I cut off the end of the triangle support, making it look more even and not too long. I did the same to the back where it looked too long before, I made it smaller and it looked much better.
